Naadam Festival

Naadam festival celebrates Mongolia's independence and its rich cultural heritage with music, parades, dance and sporting events.

It started in Chinggis Square with an official parade for the newly elected President. There were many official people, government representatives, ambassadors, local Mongolian leaders and militar y officials.

Followed by the 'Deel Parade' of national and tribal clothes.

We went to the Ulaanbaatar's sports stadium for a spectacle show casing the history of the Mongol people. It was a colourful extravaganza of parading, singing, dancing and show stopping entertainment.

And then it was off to the races where we saw the end of a straight long 35km race. The jockeys were 6-9 years of age.
